The Bed Bug Detection Dog
Our Bed Bug Dogs are carefully hand selected for their temperament. They have extremely high levels of drive and they enjoy working for long periods of time.
Southern Star Ranch K9 Training Center dogs are trained to search for and detect bed bugs in any environment
Breeds most often used for Bed Bug Detection include:
- Labrador Retrievers
- Golden Retrievers
- Border Collies
- Jack Russel terriors
We actually look at 100 - 125 dogs to find 1 that has what it takes to be a bed bug dog.
The cost for a Bed Bug Dog includes our one week handler school. The dog is fully trained before the handler arrives and the course is intended to train the handler to handle the dog and for the bonding process with his new partner. Each handler attending the course must pass a written examination and earn certification with his new partner before returning to work.
